Ocean Export Freight Forwarder

The nature of this job requires an individual who is communicative, analytical and creative.  The ability to handle pressure and responsibility is a necessity.  This individual will have contact with customers, carriers, truckers, rail providers and potential customers on a daily basis. Being proactive in providing quality customer service is a must. Principal Duties and Responsibilities 1. Book cargo for transportation with steamships, truckers and rails   2. Furnish rates on daily basis to customers, potential customers and inside personnel.   3. Negotiate rates with carriers, warehouses, truckers and rail providers 4. Prepare documentation, dock receipts, bills of lading, export declarations.   5. File SED’s (Shippers Export Declarations)   6. Retrieve Original B/L's from carriers.   7. Track and trace cargo as necessary to insure proper movement and delivery.   8. Provide accounting department with proper and correct billing information.   9. Communicate with customers regarding disposition of cargo.   10. Produce and distribute complete booking confirmations.   11. Disseminate ship, motor or rail carrier information to other offices.   12.   Seek the most profitable mode of shipment, yet meet customers requirement for   the movement of cargo   Job Requirements: Job Specifications 1. Knowledge of the Import/Export industry preferred.   2. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate (verbally and intuitively) effectively with both customers and internal personnel.    3. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.   4. Must be career-oriented, hard-working, quick learner and have excellent recall for past events/situations/numbers.   5. Strong knowledge of personal computers  (Outlook, Excel, Word)    6. A Bachelors degree is preferred though not requiredJob Code : 1124 Division/Department : RFI International Travel Required : None
