Import Assistant
SUMMARY:
Primarily responsible for coordinating all preliminary import information room and assisting with Import Department activities by performing the following duties. Position will report to the Director of Logistics and Transportation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for coordinating all information received from Japan in various formats concerning the import status of commercial merchandise during the purchase to import process.Creating and updating contract sheets between Japan and company.Creating and distributing shipping advice to Import, warehouse, and appropriate divisions.Assisting with Import Department duties as assigned by the Import Manager.Reviewing invoices (air, ocean, commercial) and check for accuracy.Inputting data into AS400.All other duties as may be assigned by other members of management.

► EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE – Associate's degree from two-year college or technical school and one to three years related experience; or high school diploma/GED and three to five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
► Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
► Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
► Ability to define and solve practical problems, collect data, establish facts, and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
► PHYSICAL DEMANDS – The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.)
► Must be PC proficient with experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, and AS400.
