Job summary
Responsible for ensuring that inventory levels are maintained at the lowest possible level while ensuring product availability to agreed service requirements while actively managing the supply base to ensure quality, service, and total cost of ownership standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management & Replenishment: This position is responsible for the management of company inventory levels to ensure product availability, meet customer service requirements, and ensure efficient & effective purchasing practices. Key elements of this responsibility:
· Timely and accurate placement of inventory replenishment orders based on conducting physical counts, system information, and gaining input from key stakeholders
· Ensures efficient inventory parameters (re-order points, order quantities, etc.)
· Forecasts SKU demand accounting for seasonality and business dynamics
· Determines inventory accuracy in the system via developing and implementing best practice SOP’s (cycle counts, receiving practices, etc.)
· Accurate, timely SKU system set-up and managing the implications of SKU changes.
· Establishes and manages goals for Service Levels, Inventory Turns, Obsolete & Slow Moving Levels, etc.
Purchasing and Supplier Management: This position is accountable for managing suppliers to ensure a continuous supply of products on-time, at the right quality, at established costs. Key elements of this responsibility:Considers Total Cost of Ownership into the decision making processConducts best practices in product sourcing (competitive bidding, negotiations, etc.) to meet business needsAccurate, timely Supplier system set-upCost management and maintenance to ensure accurate PO’s and inventory costsPro-actively works to manage & develop Suppliers to meet business needs
System Support and Management: This role is responsible for applying best systems practices to efficiently and effectively support the purchasing and inventory management needs of the company. Key elements of this responsibility:Master the existing system to maximize its capabilities to manage the inventory and provide purchasing efficienciesDevelops interim steps as required to ensure inventory management and replenishment efficienciesProficiency in downloading and manipulating system information for analysis and decision makingEstablish DRP/MRP capabilities that maximize inventory replenishment efficienciesBecome the Inventory/Purchasing system Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Minimum requirements
· Bachelor’s degree preferred with minimum 3-5 years relevant experience or equivalent experience in both product replenishment/inventory management and purchasing.
· Demonstrated planning and organization skills; attention to details critical
· Experience with MRP/DRP/ERP systems to manage inventory levels
· Proficiency in Word, Excel, & PowerPoint
· Well-developed analytical and communications skills
· C.P.M. or APICS Certified, preferred
Abilities required
· Daily physical count of SKU’s to determine on-hand position
· Daily input of data (systems and Excel) to manage information needs
· Transition process from manual to system application
· Occasional handling of products up to 40 lbs as necessary
· Ability to work in a cold storage distribution center environment
