Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager is primarily responsible for providing management with accurate financial and job cost reporting, and supervision of the accounting staff under direction of the general manager.

 

Requirements:

 

Functional responsibility for payroll, accounts payable, job costing, billings, collections, and inter-company transactions.

Ability to stay on top of the numbers and be proactive in proposing change and identifying problem areas.

Management responsibility for the accounting and sometimes administrative staff..

Provide support for other departments and projects to assist in their accounting/administrative needs.

Daily cash position tracking and reporting, plus weekly projections.

Monthly system close procedure . Forecasting - backlog, cashflow, etc.

General ledger accounting: assists in production of year-end outside audit schedules and information.

 

Prepare financial analysis and reports: including sales/use tax reports, insurance reports, certified payroll reports, etc.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to compose letters, detailed financial reports and memos to executives and other colleagues.

Maintain and/or improve the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures and initiatives: Must have strong track record of personal/technical growth in the finance and accounting areas. Must be committed to "continuous improvement" and possess a problem solver capability.

 

Strengthen internal control functions while simplifying and speeding up processes: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently.

Perform other related duties and assignments as required

Job Requirements

   Experience with the following:

You must have a minimum of 3 years recent Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant experience. Import/distribution experience a plus 

 

 

Specialized Skills:

Excel

Word

Strong systems knowledge, including integrated accounting systems

Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and stay flexible, while meeting deadlines and goals

Needs a positive, conscientious attitude

High degree of accuracy and feeling of ownership and pride in work product

 

Desired Certifications:

B.A. in accounting or finance required.
