PRIMARY SUMMARY
Responsible for the management of the Hazardous Waste Disposal Group including planning, business development, operations, health and safety, sales and marketing with profit and loss accountability; regulatory compliance, liaison with regulatory agencies and clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage all aspects of Hazardous Waste Disposal field work encompassed in environmental projects utilizing a staff of Field Chemists, site supervisors, foremen, equipment operators, field technicians, and truck drivers.Ensure health and safety compliance on all assigned projectsEnsure compliance of all company facilities in Alameda for storage and disposal of company generated and client transported wasteManages multiple client contracts and projects to ensures start to finish initiation and closing of project opportunitiesResponsible for execution of company correspondence, documentation, forms, cost accounting and invoicing of assigned projectsMentor Field Chemists, Field Supervisors DOT Drivers and Foremen personnel in regulation compliance, waste packaging/disposal techniques, subcontractor selection and procurement, project scoping, scheduling and cost, and regulatory compliancePreparation of project estimates, bids and proposals as well as review and approval of subordinate staff members.Strong knowledge of all environmental services and budget expectationsReview ongoing performance results to targets and takes corrective measures as needed.Determines standards of performance as a basis to review progress of personnel. Recommends salary adjustments, transfers, promotions, and dismissals. Ensures proper training of personnel.Keeps Division Manager fully informed of Hazardous Waste Group progress. Reports all problems or unusual matters of significance and course of action taken to address them.Accountable for successful performance on both internal and external initiated spill drills and exercises. Ensures NRC compliance with all US EPA, DOT and DTSC, as well as other regulatory agencies, requirement
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Four (4) years of college with a degree in Chemistry or other science degree with satisfactory amount of class work in Chemistry.Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience in the environmental and hazardous waste industry as a department manager, senior project manager or environmental engineer..Experience managing and developing cost proposals and bid estimates.Possesses current OSHA, DOT AND EPA training certificates. Knowledge of California State and federal waste handling/disposal regulations. Ability to communicate well with all levels of management and subordinates in order to effectively accomplish general goals of the Operations program. Experience in program management of a large contract for Hazardous Waste Disposal services.Good written and verbal communication skills are required including negotiation, persuasive, leadership and supervision skills, and the ability to work independently and as a team member.Ability to work and be on-call as needed for NRCES 24-hour, 7 days per week. Current OSHA, and HM 181 / 126 DOT driver training; 8 hour OSHA supervisor certification and confined space supervisor training
