Position Description:

· Maintain the accuracy of General Accounting Records and Reports through analysis and reconciliation of accounts, perform due diligent review of financial reports, prepare journal entries, maintain recurring journal entries and mass allocations, develop written guidelines, work directly with OMB and other departments to ensure that financial information is accurate, timely and reliable.

· Participate in the month-end and year-end accounting close.

· Prepare and coordinate journal entries with other sections and departments.

· Work directly with OMB and other departments to resolve accounting and financial reporting issues.

· Perform due diligent reviews on financial reports prior to distributing to OMB and other departments.

· Perform balance sheet analysis and make necessary corrections.

· Prepare monthly bank and inventory reconciliations and coordinate corrections.

· Prepare certain reporting forms for section 15 report.

· Develop and maintain Accounting Procedures.

· Assist in identifying internal control weakness and compliance with internal accounting controls.

· Recommend enhancements to Accounting Business Processes.

· Develop and maintain cost allocation models that comply with OMB Circular A-87 and GAAP.

· Maintain fixed asset/grant records and reconcile to physical counts.

· Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Minimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. Minimum of five (5) years of professional accounting/financial reporting experience. Knowledge of accounting, reporting and auditing standards issued by GASB, FASB, FTA, the AICPA, and oversight organizations.  Communicate effectively with Senior Management and internal/external auditors.  Ability to analyze and improve business processes by effectively integrating Oracle Financial Applications and staff.  Ability to resolve complex accounting and reporting issues with OMB and audit organizations.  Develop and manage sensitive financial information.
