JOB TITLE: Programmer Analyst III Accountability: This position is accountable to the Manager of Information Services Description: The Programmer Analyst’s role in this position is to define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain new software applications in support of the achievement of business requirements. This includes writing, coding, testing, and analyzing software programs and applications. The Programmer Analyst will also research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the production life cycle. General Requirements of the Job: · Must be at least 21 years of age. · Must have a College Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems or equivalent work experience. · Must have 10+ years experience in the MIS field.· Proficiency in a variety of programming languages, including JAVA and VB is desirable as well as knowledge in either the J2EE or .NET architectures· Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices· Extensive relational database.· Prior experience interviewing end-users for insight on functionality, interface, problems, and/or usability issues· Able to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams· Hands-on experience developing test cases and test plans· Flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies· Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills· Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products· Highly self motivated and directed with a keen attention to detail· Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities· Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment· Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment· Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws a plus· Project Management experience a plus Statement of the Job and Duties: The Programmer Analyst III is responsible for:Developing custom applications that are reliable, easy to use, useful and accurate. · Analyze and assess existing company and customer business systems and procedures.· Assist in the definition, development, and documentation of software’s business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal and external users.· Assist in defining software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.· Research, identify, analyze, and fulfill requirements of all internal and external program users.· Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.· Write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of company applications as necessary.· Develop and maintain user manuals and guidelines.· Conduct research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.· Liaise with vendors for efficient implementation of new software products or systems and for resolution of any adaptation issues.· Recommend and schedule software improvements and upgrades.· Install software products for end users as required.· Assist analysts in conceptualizing and development of new software programs and applications.· Assist in the preparation and documentation of program requirements and specifications.· Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.· Run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.· Administer critical analysis of test results and deliver solutions to problem areas. · Training users on application software. · Writing user’s guides. · Conduct research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.· Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades.· Provide guidance to other programmers. · Act as Project Lead for large projects while being accountable to the Manager of Information Services · Update user’s guide according to Rinchem’s Standard Development Process. · Supporting users with daily use of application software. Work Environment Associated with Essential Duties: · Inside work area which is protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. (90%) · Within warehouse areas, and associated dock which is only partially protected from weather conditions, is on uneven terrain both paved and unpaved, and is subject to temperature changes. · Work in areas where there is loud noise and/or vibrations.· On-call availability for 1 - 4 days per month.· Overtime hours may be required to meet project deadlines.· Sitting for extended periods of time.· Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices.· Able to lift computer drives, monitors, and other peripherals.· Some travel may be required.
