Operations Reasearch Engineer

Job Description:

This position analyzes the logistics network and develops the strategic roadmap that achieves the optimal solution.  Determines the optimal number and location of sort facilities to create the most efficient network design.  Optimizes hub processes and linehaul operations.  Creates network and hub capacity plans, contingency plans, relief plans, and formulates proposals.  Implements new tools / models to monitor and improve field performance and plan hub network and linehaul operations.  Performs simulations, location analysis, node optimization, forecasting, facility/node needs, and staffing models.

 

Education:

Mandatory requirement:  BS in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or Mathematics

Preferred requirement:  MS in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or Mathematics

 

Minimum year(s) of experience in the following areas:

3 - 5 years experience in operations research or related field.  Preferred experience in transportation, small package, or mail sorting industry with experience in optimization, simulation, and statistical analysis.

 

Work Related Skills:

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.  Strong leadership, time management, and organizational skills.  Must be willing to work on project teams.  Must be well versed in the use of SAS, Access, Excel, Visual Basic, Arena simulation software.

 

Additional Requirements:Position will be domiciled in New Berlin, WI.  10-20% travel required.
