Operations Engineer - Carrier Management

Position will also overview the work of the transportation management center and be responsible for the creation and implementation of cost reductions and/or process improvements relative to the total cost of Logistics. This will involve written and oral communication, analysis, the creation and implementation of ideas for the Ryder Customer. Other duties may include: daily and long-term transportation issue resolution; including price, service and claims. Will be responsible for required performance tracking reports, for assisting with the management of the carrier management account; including interfacing with customers on account issues, carrier selection and management and analyzing transportation systems. REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor's degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Logistics or a related field or equivalent experience of 8 years. Minimum of 3 (three) years of transportation operations experience, including: carrier management, transportation planning, project management and logistics analyses is required for this position. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must also possess strong customer service, analytical and computer skills to include MS Office Good communication skills Knowledge of inventory deployment, Facility layout, and Dock operations. Good Presentation skills Advanced problem solving skills Knowledge of EDI Spreadsheets, Word Processing, Graphics, Miles Database, CFT Hookup, Mapping and Metrics. General knowledge of Integrated Logistics, Transportation, various modes, Dedicated Contract Carriage, Consolidations, Milkruns. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. International Transportation Preferred Bilingual/Spanish preferred Advanced Excel, Access and Powerpoint skills preferred RESPONSIBILITIES: The Operations Engineer will be responsible for the following: Logistics Engineering/Analysis Proposal and Presentation Problem Solving/Data Gathering Manages 1-2 projects Determination of Material Handling Requirements Consolidation and Milkrun route destination Costing Analysis/Savings Proposals Mode Conversion Analysis (TL, LTL, Air, Ocean and Rail) Cube utilization/Packaging Requirements CIPS/PIPS and RIPS (Cost, Process, and Revenue Improvements) Initiative and ownership Performance Reporting Customer Relationship Building May be involved in Carrier Pricing Negotiations Field Visits
