Marketing Database Manager



Viking is looking for an experienced, execution focused, and independently motivated problem solver with a passion for operational marketing efficiency. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing the direct marketing customer and prospect database for international marketing and ecommerce. The primary goal of this function is to deliver accurate and timely marketing data to support planning, campaign files, reporting and research.

  Oversight of marketing database vendors, data providers, and analytic consultants Database Administration including the execution of data requirements to support multi-channel marketing, reporting and analysis, and systematic data loads from multiple source systems Execute against direct marketing efforts on matching routines, segmentation, coding schemes and any tracking requirements defined by the business Participate in the integration of internal database and business systems to increase efficiencies Manage merge/purge practices for DM/EM programs Partner with direct marketing, e-commerce, and technology departments to plan and monitor programs and campaigns

Qualifications Minimum of 5-7 years role within marketing technology, database administration, or business intelligence function Strong database programming background with a solid foundation database design standards and an understanding of automated database maintenance production Exposure to multi-channel marketing strategies, including direct and database marketing, B2B, and e-commerce. Intellectually curious; able to analyze data to uncover trends and make recommendations, fiscally savvy Advanced degree preferred 

Skills Advanced or expert knowledge of MS SQL Server 2005, Excel, and Access with exposure to Unica, Brio, Business Objects, Cognos, or other OLAP software Firm understanding of database concepts, including querying, architecture, and systems integration Strong business analytical skills with a proven track record of delivering actionable insight Proven ability to communicate complex, technical concepts to executive team Strong presentation and consultative skills
