Primary Responsibilities:

The Logistics Account Executive Trainee (LAET) spends 26 weeks in a rigorous Sales Management Training Program. Throughout this time, you will assist an experienced Logistics Account Executive (LAE) for 18 weeks and work to gain an understanding of the logistics industry and TQL’s business practices as well as the use of our Load Manager Database system.  In the last 8 weeks of training, you will be independent of your mentor LAE and will receive in-depth sales training that includes a mix of classroom and on the job training with a qualified Sales Training Specialist.



As you master the skills necessary to succeed, you will advance toward the Logistics Account Executive position.  The LAET role is a salaried position with opportunity to earn commission (in addition to the base salary) once you have reached set milestones as an LAE.

 

Tasks Performed in the first 18 weeks of training:

-Act as the liaison between the client, carrier, shipper and receiver

-Negotiate rates with the carrier

-Manage the movement of the client’s goods, ensuring they are picked up and delivered on time to the client’s satisfaction

-Communicate at least twice a day with the carrier during transport, from pick-up to delivery

-Accurately enter and maintain up-to-date information on a continuous basis in the Load Manager Database system

-Work quickly to resolve problems that may develop on a load

-Periodically running the account yourself

-Actively participate in on-going training programs, both classroom and on the job, readily accepting feedback and suggestions for improvement 

- Contribute to the growth of the business by referring quality candidates into the hiring process

 

Tasks Performed in the last 8 weeks of training:

-Build a portfolio of clients by actively researching and seeking out prospects

-Develop relationships with these clients and strengthen your client base by providing excellent customer service

-Actively participate in on-going training programs, both classroom and on the job, readily accepting feedback and suggestions for improvement 

-Act as the liaison between the client, carrier, shipper and receiver

-Negotiate fair rates with both the client and carrier

-Manage the movement of the client’s goods, ensuring they are picked up and delivered on time to the client’s satisfaction

-Locate carriers for negotiated loads

-Communicate at least twice a day with the carrier during transport, from pick-up to delivery

-Accurately enter and maintain up-to-date information on a continuous basis in the Load Manager Database system

-Work quickly to resolve problems that may develop on a load

- Contribute to the growth of the business by referring quality candidates into the hiring process

 

Essential Functions:

-Basic word processing and spreadsheet skills, at least 25 wpm typing skills

-Ability to simultaneously handle multiple phone lines

-Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment with rapidly changing priorities

-On call, receiving calls from clients and carriers 24/7 including holidays, weekends and evenings

-Standard Training Hours: 

· Monday – Friday, 7:45AM – 5:15PM, potential of additional hours as needed, up to 60 hours/week total

· A LAET can expect to work every Saturday for the first 4 weeks, and then three out of four Saturdays through 18 weeks.  After 18 weeks, a LAET can expect to work two out of four Saturdays through 26 weeks.  After 26 weeks, a LAET can expect to work one Saturday per 4 week period. These shifts are to help with the increased call volume during this time period.  Saturday shifts are four hour shifts lasting from 8am-12pm.

· During training, LAETs will be scheduled an additional seventeen hours and must be worked outside normal business hours during the training period.  These shifts occur Monday-Friday before and after normal business hours, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday morning.  A LAET will receive a schedule for these shifts during the 4th week of training.

 

Desired Job Experience:

-Transportation Industry experience

 

 

 

Other Qualifications:

-High School Diploma or Equivalent with 2 years of full-time work experience or College Degree

-At least 18 years of age or older

-Strong work ethic, fast learner

-Strong negotiation and persuasion skills

-Self directed and good problem solving skills

-Strong verbal and written communication skills
