Financial Analyst

Responsible for providing financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and operational metric analysis of company operations. Maintain and help develop management reports. Assist operational management, as well as financial management, in understanding performance of various business segments of the company. Assist in the preparation of the annual budget of various business segments and functions of the company. Assist with periodic forecasts of anticipated future financial performance.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Complete all tasks and assignments demonstrating customer service principals.

2. Serve as a primary support for financial analysis of assigned business operations. Research and document actual to budget differences.


3. Prepare monthly operational metric analysis. Metrics to include but not limited to revenue, volume, expense and safety. Research, document and communicate items of significance.

4. Provide assistance in the preparation of the annual budget. Assist operational management in understanding schedules and models associated with their budget.

5. Provide assistance in the preparation of periodic forecasts. Assist operational management in understanding schedules and models associated with their forecast.

6. Develop a good understanding of the organization structure of the company and how the various business segments interact with one another.

7. Obtain a solid working knowledge of the primary drivers of MTC’s operations and their impact on financial performance.

8. Possess and maintain the basic accounting skills necessary to understand general ledger transactions.

9. Obtain solid knowledge of company business models and analytical tools and measurements.

10. Obtain and continuously improve knowledge of the Oracle General Ledger system, and other Oracle financial packages.




RESPONSIBILITIES:


11. Develop a working knowledge of various company computer systems – i.e. TOPS, Labor Systems, Maximo, ADI, Business Objects and SQL databases - that allows for the independent completion of assigned tasks.

12. Develop and maintain good working relationship with key management and operating personnel in operations and finance.

13. Work with safety and loss prevention personnel to insure accurate and timely reporting of safety and property damage incidents.

14. Complete special projects as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:


1. BS degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.

2. Good experience working with spreadsheets and financial systems.

3. Working knowledge of databases (especially SQL) a plus.

4. Ability to communicate effectively with financial and non-financial staff.

5. Requires strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

6. Must have ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and meet aggressive timelines...
