Bilingual Driver Trainer

Job Description: The Driver Trainer will work with the districts in their designated Market Area to improve safety awareness and driving habits by conducting both structured training courses and field training. The Driver Trainer is expected to fulfill a leadership role and is responsible for handling training of employees on all fleet vehicles to ensure that each employee operates each vehicle safely and efficiently and in compliance with Waste Management's rules and regulations.   Conducts New Employee Orientation training, which includes: Job-specific training, Policies and work rules (Including Rules Book, Alerts, and Safe Driving), and Regulatory agency required training.  Conducts annual Safe Driving Practices training with all drivers and mechanics that possess a valid CDL. Trains drivers in defensive driving techniques. Trains new drivers and re-evaluate and retrain drivers involved in chargeable accidents. At the same time, mentor multiple incident employees - evaluate and retrain. Consults with Route Mangers and drivers to help identify and resolve safety related issues at the District sites-conduct field training. Completes road test and road test certification. Communicated with managers to schedule training and discuss status of new and current drivers. Will meet with Market Area Safety Manager quarterly to review training status on drivers.   Minimum Requirements (Education, certification, licensure, and experience that is essential to succeed in this position): High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. A minimum of 5 years driving experience in the waste industry or equivalent trucking industry. Valid CDL   Preferred Characteristics: (Education, certification, licensure, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that are preferred, but not critical, in candidates for this position).
