Assist. Mgr., Revenue Accounting

Since 1959, Universal Weather and Aviation, Inc. (Universal®), the pioneer of international flight support services for corporate aviation, has been arranging, coordinating and providing complete services in support of a trip for corporate aviation operators worldwide. Services range from flight planning, permits and crew accommodations to online flight planning, a global ground handling network and a fueling card program. Universal has offices in over 50 countries throughout the world supporting clients that represent organizations that rely on corporate and private aircraft.

 

Universal is currently seeking an Assistant Manager, Revenue Accounting to be an integral part of our Financial Reporting department.  This position will be based in our corporate headquarters located near Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas.  This individual will be responsible for the accounting of all the consolidated sales and the related cost of the reporting entity. This person will be tasked with becoming the SME, subject matter expert, for our department. This will require this person to be intimately knowledgeable with the accounting and the related billing processes that produce the revenue. The position requires the ability to analyze problem areas and develop solutions to address those concerns as well as create reporting to properly monitor these areas on an ongoing basis.

 

Responsibilities: 

 

q Manages 4 direct reports; 2 Accounting Supervisors and 2 Accounting Analysts.

q Participates in all current and future revenue/billing projects.

q Presents findings and offers solutions/improvements to processes.

q Evaluates issues related to the accuracy of recognized revenue/cost.

q Documents all revenue processes in both a Visio flow and narrative format. 

q Ad hoc Financial & Operational Reporting for internal users.

q Handles special projects related to department initiatives/goals as assigned.

 Requirements:



·  BS/BA in Accounting, MS would be a plus.



·  CPA preferred.

·  5 years of progressive work experience in accounting; minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience

·  Intermediate/Advance skill level in Excel, Access, Idea or Crystal Reports

·  Knowledge of Oracle is highly preferred.

·  Strong Interpersonal Skills:  communication (verbal and written), relationship management, solid decision-making, and analytical skills

·  Must have a “hands onâ€�, “can doâ€� attitude and a “problem solvingâ€� mind set.
