About the OpportunityThis assignment will be responsible for, but not limited to functions pertaining to transportation department activities for the Distribution Center. About the Position ·Provide overall operational leadership for the site transportation department. Provide daily coaching and development of hourly transportation department associates. Ensure customer’s month-end shipment goals are met. Ensure transportation department’s compliance to the site quality manual and all Control Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures. Assist Business Improvement Manager in the implementation and upkeep of the site EIP program within the transportation department. Monitor and assist the maintenance of the transportation department’s section of the site training database. Proactively and effectively communicate both written and orally to customers, subordinates, colleagues, and management. Member of the Quality Team. Misc. tasks as assigned by the General Manager. QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Â· Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.· Contemporary skills in computer related tools such as MS Office, DB2, SQL/Cognos and other report writers.· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.· Budgeting and financial analysis experience.· Working knowledge of current DOT and Hours of Service regulations.· Willingness to work overtime and weekends. Education/Relevant Experience Bachelor degree (B.S.) in Transportation or Logistics is required, MBA preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 1-4 years 3PL experience, including fleet management, direct and reverse logistics, and/or inbound/outbound transportation.
