Transportation & Freight Pay Specialist

Summary of Job Description:

The Transportation Specialist will make carrier selections, schedule appointments for pick-up and delivery activities and resolve transportation problems in an expeditious and professional manner.  Monitor carrier performance and status reporting, process cargo claims, support freight payment activities including processing and auditing freight invoices, generate reports, and work with carriers to ensure proper invoicing.

 

Duties will include tracking, tracing, rating and routing shipments, performing transportation/logistics analysis, and providing transportation advice/support.  Process freight invoices.  This project uses Menlo TMS, Cognos Impromptu, Discoverer and Oracle.

 

Requirements:

 

The successful candidate should have two or more years of related experience in transportation and freight management.  An undergraduate degree with related coursework/concentration in transportation or logistics is preferred.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.  The individual in this position must be a team player and customer service oriented.  Exposure to Menlo TMS is beneficial.  Strong computer skills (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Access) are important, along with a working knowledge to use the internet for tracing shipments.  A general knowledge of transportation systems is needed.
