Operating Tax Analyst (KCG)

Company: YRC Worldwide Inc.Location: Overland Park, KS 66202Status: Full Time, EmployeeJob Category: Accounting/Finance/Insurance Operating Tax Analyst (KCG) JOB SUMMARY This position has primary responsibility for timely and accurate filing of operating tax returns, payments and refund claims, including some preparation and some review, and for processing AP vouchers in the Operating Tax worklist and for providing sales tax exemption certificates to vendors.  Duties require frequent interaction with personnel in other departments and third-party vendors.  Computer use is integral to many tasks, particularly Microsoft Excel and Access. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Property tax:  Administer tax return compliance process, ensuring timely, accurate filing; prepare and review returns; maintain database of assessed values and tax payments; administer tax bills for timely payment; assist with accounting responsibilities; assist with jurisdictional audits. Sales/use tax:  Administer compliance process, including information gathering and processing, tax return preparation and review, payment processing and timely filing; maintain tax rate table; analyze AP vouchers for proper tax treatment; manage process to provide tax exemption certificates to vendors as needed; assist with jurisdictional audits. Fuel, mileage and HVUT taxes:  Administer compliance process, including information gathering and processing, tax return preparation and review, payment processing and timely filing; assist with accounting responsibilities; assist with jurisdictional audits.  Projects:  Assist with projects related to realizing refunds and/or implementing tax reduction strategies for all tax types.  Accounting: Assist with monthly closing process; maintain analysis of Operating Tax accountsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or related area 2 or more years professional-level experience in accounting or tax Proficiency on computers, primarily with MS Excel and Access Ability to organize and prioritize work flow Attention to detail PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS PeopleSoft Financials and A/P experience YRC Worldwide, Inc is an Equal Opportunity Employer YRC Worldwide is an Equal Opportunity Employer
