Moller-Maersk Group. As one of the world's largest terminal operators, APM Terminals has container handling operations at over 50 terminals worldwide including 12 in North America. APM Terminals is an Equal Opportunity Employer (M/F/V/D).   Based in Portsmouth, VA the Manager of Business Development for North America is responsible for expanding our terminal operations by focusing on profitable sustainability. This position offers an outstanding opportunity to join the global team at APM Terminals and contribute to the success of the organization. The position reports to the Senior Director, Business Development for North America.         To further strengthening our business development team, APM Terminals regional office for USA and Canada is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager. The position is based in Portsmouth, Virginia and will be driving and managing specific container terminal developments at various locations within the region.   APMT’s portfolio of terminals in North America consists of 11 terminals with two projects under execution and a planned major expansion of several existing terminals. The business development/project function currently manages a number of projects in various stages of development within the region.   The region offers many opportunities for further development with privatizations, acquisitions and green/brown field projects.   Responsibilities Reporting to the Senior Director of Business Development you will be responsible for specific project & business developments, and among others: Participate in developing and executing the terminal development strategy within the region. Establish contacts with key external decision makers for the ports, rail roads, customers and other external stakeholders Identify and develop concrete opportunities for new terminals in the ports Identify, review and propose m&a opportunities in North America Assess and evaluate attractiveness of terminal projects Manage the development process of specific projects Co-ordinate alignment of New Business Strategy with Existing Business in the Region Represent APM Terminals in meetings and negotiations Develop business plans and budgets Provide input for investment proposals   The position requires creative and out of the box thinking to identify new and less obvious opportunities. The development of terminal projects involves dealing with many stakeholders such as local, regional and national authorities, liner shipping companies, business partners etc. It also includes involvement in amongst others commercial, financial, operational and legal aspects.

Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have 5 - 7 years of experience within the shipping or terminal industry   Relevant educational background and level (MBA preferred) A goal-oriented and driven mind thriving on taking on responsibility and achieving results independently and as part of a team Experience in complex business development, project planning and execution with experience in infrastructure projects and/or business development a plus. Effective negotiation and relationship building skills at strategic level Experience with M & A activities Excellent cooperative and communication skills across functions and locations Sound financial understanding and ability to work with complex financial models Ability to focus on details without losing the overall perspective Experience in dealing with medium to high political and regulatory levels  Job Grade : 57 Division/Department : Portsmouth, VA # of Openings : 1 Travel Required : 50-60%
