SUMMARY:  

 

Supervises and coordinates activities of Warehouse Administration and Customer Service by performing the following duties.   Supervises office staff activities for start-up operation in Auburn, Washington, located between Seattle and Tacoma.   The new facility will handle Transload and Warehousing operations for our Target Account.  This position is located in Sumner, WA.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

Ø  Evaluates office production, standardizes procedures, or devises new forms to improve

efficiency of work flow.

 

Ø  Develops and analyzes statistical data and service specifications to determine present

standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of service.

 

Ø  Plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to service quality and reliability.

 

Ø  Responds to customer inquiries on the telephone, through on-line networks, and by mail.

 

Ø  Communicates with carriers and terminals on a daily basis.

 

Ø  Investigates errors and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality.

 

Ø  Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.  Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.

 

Ø  Communicates daily with IS Dept. to ensure system functionality and request enhancements.

 

Ø  Maintains harmony among workers and resolves operational problems.

 

Ø  Prepares reports and/or composite reports from individual reports of subordinates, as required by the customer and NYK management.

 

Ø  Formulates procedures for systematic retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal of records.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Directly supervises 5-10 employees in the Warehouse office . Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual  must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education And/Or Experience:  Minimum A.A. degree and/or five years in warehouse/office administration, with three years supervisory experience.  Must have knowledge of ocean ports, terminals and carriers, terminology of International Imports and Exports, and handling of cargo claims.

 

Language Skills:  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common professional journals, financial reports, government regulations and legal documents. Ability to present information to or respond to common inquiries, requests or complaints from employees, vendors, customers, or regulatory agencies.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Must have excellent spelling and English grammar skills. 

 

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of

instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Applications Skills:   Must have working knowledge of Windows operating system and be proficient in Microsoft software applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.)  Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems would be helpful.
