We have an immediate need for a Mechanic at our Lemont, IL facility. This position is responsible for maintaining ACL's towboat fleet in proper working condition by making necessary mechanical adjustments and engine repairs to boats and related equipment. Principle Responsibilities: Â· Rebuilds water, lube oil pumps and associated equipmentÂ· Rebuild Alco pump supportsÂ· Rebuild EMD rocker armsÂ· Rebuild EMD valve bridgesÂ· Ability to use and read a multi-meter safelyÂ· Assists in training new personnelÂ· Measure and qualify components used to build an EMD powerpackÂ· Measure and qualify components used to build ALCO cylinder assemblyÂ· Change main bearings in EMD & Alco enginesÂ· Rebuild Alco governor driveÂ· Set valves & injectors for EMD & AlcoÂ· Set valves & ejectors on DDsÂ· Must possess troubleshooting skills Â· Change turbo on Alco and EMDÂ· Swing a generator engineÂ· Solid understanding of steering systemsÂ· FAST system and MSD systemÂ· Trained as PICMust have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) (additional vocational/technical training desired) and 5+ years of diesel engine repair, mechanic and/or boat maintenance experience. This detail oriented person will have strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot, sometimes working under high-pressure, time-sensitive circumstances. Must have good interpersonal skills and basic knowledge of computer systems (MS Office products; Windows environment). Some travel required.
