Wireless NOC Engineer

Full Time, Temporary/Contract/Project Job Category: Customer Support/Client Care Wireless NOC Engineer TEKsystems, Inc. is looking for qualified candidates to fill up to two Network Operations Center openings for a growing client of ours in the near western suburbs of Chicago. Our client is a growing player in the IP telephony arena as they offer a unique product with a lot of potential for growth over the next few years.This is a contract to hire opportunity with this client as they are a growing team looking to increase support for the customers that they are signing on.The NOC Engineer will be part of the Network Operations Center team that provides 24x7 surveillance, trouble management and operational support related to IP, wireless and transmission networks. The individual must be comfortable working in a fast paced, team environment. Key Responsibilities: - Responsibilities include surveillance, fault management and event notification of the network infrastructure. To include the coordination and/or escalations of network issues to the appropriate engineering /operations teams. - Responsible for using network management, monitoring and trouble isolation tools and interpreting the results in order to successfully identify, understand and resolve network problems and improve network performance. - Provide oversight of all network activities, such as the coordination of change management and routine maintenance actions. - Identify, coordinate and document preventive, proactive and corrective maintenance requirements. - Support of network projects such as software or hardware upgrades, network expansion and data collection activities. - Responsible for testing and evaluating network hardware and software, developing new network monitoring, analysis tools and writing network documentation.Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in computer science, telecommunication or related field preferred. - A minimum of 2 – 4 years experience in a network operations center, wireless and or telecom operations background. - Experience with core wireless infrastructure to include BSC, BTS and OMC elements. - Experienced in the build and launch of a major communication/data network (cellular, IP or telecommunications) to include the development of support matrices, operational procedures, monitoring software and trouble-shooting methodologies - Understanding of interconnect components and protocols such as DS1, DS3, CDMA, EVDO, LAN/WAN, QOS, IP routing, 802 WIFI protocols, VOIP, router technologies, and wireless networks. - Must be able to work nights and weekends with minimum supervision. - Ability to communicate and work well with all levels of technical and managerial staff. Required Skills: Wireless NOC experience - Preferably CDMA or EVDO, Experience with core wireless infrastructure, Understanding of interconnect components - DS1, DS3, Experience with Cisco Routers, Experience with IP routing, Network and Wireless Protocol, Shift Flexibility - Days, Weekends, Strong written and verbal communication, CCNA or equivalent data background experienceJoin TEKsystems® and get your career on the fast track.
