WAN Support Engineer- Tier 1.5
This is a 2 year contract in Durham, NC.Security Monitor - A Security Monitor oversees the daily responsibility of managing the Remedy based ticketing system and incoming phone support. Tickets and phone support will be evaluated by ticket/call severity for further notification and processing to Tier 2 and Tier 3 staff. For Severity 1 and 2 (outage) type of tickets/events, a Security Monitor will have the responsibility of engagements with LEC per customer for Circuit testing and possible Vendor engagements for hardware/software dispatches. The candidate will be positioned in a Security Operations Center performing entry level troubleshooting skills to devices such as: - Cisco PIX firewalls - Routers - Switches - Checkpoint firewalls run on Solaris and Nokia IPSO platforms - WebSense URL servers - Lucent Brick firewall - Blue Coat and NetCache Proxy servers - Cisco Intrusion Detection - Enterasys Dragon Sensors - McAfee Anti-Virus - Trend Micro Anti-Virus - Baytech modems - US Robotics modems. This position comes with an opportunity to develop and grow your networking skill-sets for possible advancement into higher Tier 2 and Tier 3 support levels in the Network Security organization. REQUIRED CRITICAL SKILLS: Cisco Networking skills are required at Entry to Intermediate level (2-4 yrs experience). Candidate needs to possess good Customer Service skills for internal and external customers with the ability to follow mandated Standard Operating Procedures, process flows, and Network Documentation. All candidates must have fluency and command of the English language both written and verbal. Candidate must be able to work well with others, multitask efficiently, and be willing to be self sufficient in skills development growth. PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS: - Basic Unix skills - Network Security and firewall - CCNA or equivalent skill level TOUR: Positions are available for all shifts in a 24 x 7 support environment. 2nd shift and Weekend shift openings are available and are subject to change based on performance and meeting the business need.
