The successful candidate will perform product-focused research and development in advanced video technologies.  In particular, the successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end design and development of video compression software, including (but not limited to) such functions as:

· Creating new video processing and compression algorithms, with a particular focus on performance and quality

· Preparing detailed product specifications based on required hardware configurations

· Defining any product-specific hardware and performance requirements

· Developing the software, using Dialogic-standard tools and processes

· Completing the implementation through unit test

· Working with colleagues to integrate these algorithms into Dialogic product and services offerings

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge, development experience, and practical application of working with video compression software, including (but not limited to) such international video coding standards as H.263, H.264, and MPEG-4. He or she will have experience in building video compression software that has been delivered to customers and used in live field environments.  The candidate must also have knowledge and experience in advanced transcoding techniques that enable efficient interoperability among multiple standard and non-standard video algorithms.

Among the expected responsibilities for this position is the development of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and other tools for our compression software to be used by other applications or end users.  For this reason, previous experience with API development or Software Development Kits (SDKs) is highly desirable.

The successful candidate should have experience in current software methodologies and technologies.  In particular, he/she should have experience in the C programming language with Linux and Windows.  Experience in object-oriented software technologies such as C++ and experience in developing software for a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) environment would be desirable.

Qualifications:

An MS degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering is required.  A Ph.D. in one of these same fields is desirable, but not required.  No less than five years of experience in software engineering and development in the field of video compression technologies is required.

The successful candidate will work well as part of a team, where the team includes colleagues from other software/hardware development organizations, customers, organizational colleagues, and support staff.  He/she should demonstrate a strong commitment to the Dialogic values.
