Telecommunication Technician
Henkels & McCoy, Inc., one of the largest privately held international utility contracting firms, with offices in 80 cities and celebrating 85 years of operating with a reputation as one of the most reliable and innovative firms in engineering and construction, is currently seeking a Telecommunication Technician with previous experience with network or system installations while working from blueprints, specifications, and system documentation. I deal candidates will have a thorough working knowledge of Network Topologies, Industry Pin Configurations, IEEE standards as they apply to installation, termination, testing and trouble shooting. In addition, the telecommunication Technician should have a thorough working knowledge of most widely used installation, termination and testing procedures and their associated hardware, power tools, test equipment, and specifications. • Works as a crew leader, which installs cable, supports, and miscellaneous hardware as found in telecommunication systems and networks
• Works as a crew leader, which terminates, tests, repairs on copper cabling found in telecommunication systems and networks
• Works and directs a crew of 2 to 4 installers and helpers while under the
supervision of a foreman or supervisor
• Works with the crew on work assignments and keeps foreman informed
daily on production and completed work by his/her crew. Brings to
foreman's attention any situations, which may impede production (i.e.
Material shortages, lack of access, lack of proper tools etc.), may be safety concerns, or may be disciplinary problems
• Works with the foreman to insure quality workmanship and methods to
improve individual or crew performance
• Assists, as required, in all aspects of the project as directed by the foreman or supervisor
• Works independently, or with service technician performing service calls
such as moves, adds and changes. Updates customer prints and documentation as required. Completes work orders, material transfer
forms, and other documentation required by the company
• Provides installation standards training (OJT) for junior crewmembers
• Must be able to stoop, kneel, or crouch
• Must be able to climb ladders
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and carry 25 lbs • 3-4years of telecommunications installation experience
• High school education or equivalent Classes in industry-related courses such as networking, telecommunications supervision etc.
• Valid driver's license
• Reliable transportation
• Must have own tools
