Telcommunication Engineer

Hours: Mon – Fri 8am – 5pm; overtime & weekends as needed.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.

SUMMARY: The role is to provide telecommunications support and administration services to the San Antonio division. Will be the primary person responsible for ensuring the telecommunications infrastructure is performing optimally. This person will be considered the local expert for all telecommunications technology platforms and will be the primary liaison between TWC employees and IT. This role will also serve as backup support for the Network Engineering function.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Required – Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems/Technology or equivalent job experience (4 to 6 years of telecom experience).
• 4 to 6 years of hands-on experience supporting/maintaining major telecom vendor hardware and software such as Avaya, Nortel, Siemens, Lucent, Aspect, etc…
• 2 to 3 years of VoIP and traditional PBX hands-on experience.
• 2 to 4 years of hands on experience with an Avaya telecommunications infrastructure including Interaction Center, Call Management System, IVR and voicemail.
• Detailed understanding of Contact Center operations and technology solutions including IVR, call routing, CTI, call recording, workforce management and predictive dialers.
• Experience supporting Avaya telecom hardware/software, Verint or Witness call recorder, Teledirect Dialer, Aspect or Blue Pumkin Workforce Management
• 3 to 5 years of experience using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
• Experience creating test environments and developing test plans.
• Experience utilizing structured project management methodology including requirements identification, project scoping, task estimation, schedule development, risk identification, issue tracking and resolution, quality assurance, testing, procurement management and project closure.
• Experience utilizing structured change management procedures.
• PMP certification preferred
• Preferred – Experience with Cisco routers and switches.
• Preferred – Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience of LAN, WAN, and telecommunication equipment, understanding of all OSI layers from application to physical, knowledge of RIP, OSPF and BGP, and experience with bandwidth utilization monitoring.
• Preferred – 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience supporting/maintaining CheckPoint, Nokia, Microsoft ISA or other major firewall technology platforms.
• Preferred – 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience supporting/maintaining VPN, proxies, system hardening, security policies with extensive knowledge of security practices/technologies.
• Preferred – Above average knowledge and experience with Windows Network OS and Microsoft Active Directory.
• Preferred – Demonstrated experience and ability to implement performance monitoring and administrative tools such as CiscoWorks or HP Openview.
• Must be able to demonstrate sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Must be highly motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Must be able to demonstrate intermediate knowledge and ability to provide high levels of service to both internal and external customers, leading to high customer satisfaction and established relationships.
• Effectively communicate both written and verbally.
• Must demonstrate basic knowledge and ability to effectively manage one's own behavior and positively influence the actions of other during times of change, stress or uncertainty.
• Must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and demands in the most effective and efficient manner.
• Must demonstrate above average knowledge of problem-solving and decision-making techniques, and the ability to generate solutions to problems and decide on a course of action.
• Must be able to function effectively in a team environment to accomplish team goals.




JOB DUTIES:
• Support, administration, maintenance and implementation of divisional telecommunications systems and services to improve productivity and minimize costs.
• Project management – work with business customers to understand their requirements, negotiate scope and terms of delivery.
• Manage vendor relations and telecom billing, contracts and services reconciliation.
• Keep current with the latest industry trends and best practices. Research and identify technology opportunities and their application to the business.
• Other duties as required.

OTHER COMMENTS:
While performing the duties of this position the employee will work in a typical office environment. The employee will be required to sit, talk and hear frequently. May be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and/or lift up to 50 lbs.
