Technical Support Engineer

IPC Systems, Inc. is a leading provider of mission-critical communications solutions to the world's largest financial services firms, as well as to public safety; government security; energy and power; and transportation organizations. IPC offers customers a suite of products and enhanced services that includes advanced Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology, and integrated network and management services to more than 40 countries.

We are currently seeking a Technical Support Engineer to work in our Manhattan office.  This position will be responsible for providing technical support to our customers, resolving telecommunications issues within our many networks as well as assisting with new service activations on a 24X7 basis. This individual will be responsible for resolution of network and customer trouble tickets, monitoring alarms, provisioning of new services, hot cuts of existing services, and equipment installs.



 

Accountabilities with Expected Results:

 

1. General knowledge: TDM technologies: DS0 (FX0/FXS, PLAR, MRD, E&M, HOOT), T1/E1, DS3/E3, OC-3/STM-1, OC-12/STM-4, OC-48/STM-16, echo cancellation, multiplexing, compression, etc. Network monitoring platformsIP addressing and routing and VoIPCarrier trouble handling of off-net and on-net services

2. Installation and troubleshooting of DACS equipment:ALCATEL - 1630 / 1631Eastern Research (Sycamore) DNX hardwareNEWBRIDGE

3. Installation and troubleshooting of transport, MUX, and channel bank equipment:CAC ADIT and ADTRAN MUX unitsNEWBRIDGE 3624/361Fujitsu Optical TransportCisco



Experience/Skills:

 

1. 3+ years as a telecommunications technician/engineer.

2. Knowledge of telecommunications in the Financial / Trading Industry is a major plus.

3. Use of standard test-sets to test TDM circuits with carrier or customer site technicians

4. VOIP experience a major plus.

5. Proficiency in using Windows-based software

 

Education:

 



1. Technical Certification in Telecommunications or equivalent work experience.

2. BS or BA from accredited university a plus.
