Technical Manager - Database Development

Job Category:  Project/Program Management Career Level:  Manager (Manager/Supervisor of Staff) A Technical Manager leads a development team responsible for enhancements and on-going maintenance of Vonage database objects, ERDs and database SQLs. They are directly responsible for the technical oversight of the design, identification of all cross-functional impacts and dependencies, scheduled delivery of all components into QA and addressing post deployment and on-going production issues. Essential Job Functions• Required to plan and organize multiple tasks and priorities across work-groups (multiple small-to-large projects) with little or no supervision. • Lead a group of at least 5 database developers. • Provides technical direction for the development, design, and integration for all projects • Evaluate business requirements for technical feasibility • Responsible for accurately scheduling, tracking and providing complete and accurate scoping estimates for the purposes of release planning • Owns the development lifecycle and is responsible for managing technical risks throughout the project. • Responsible for overseeing the technical work of vendor consultants and consulting teams, when applicable • Expected to be actively involved in the recruiting process by interviewing and qualifying candidates. • Perform performance reviews for team they are managingSpecific Requirements (Technical Knowledge, Software, Etc.) • BA or BS, (Computer Science degree preferred) • 2-3 years experience of leading and managing database development teams • 4-6 experience with relational database, database architecture • Strong SQL experience • Experience with ERD and database modeling • Experience in managing a database team of at least 5 individuals • Experience with project management tools • Ability to work in a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment • Experience working with technical personnel across varying functional areas • Ability to work independently with limited guidance • Strong interpersonal, presentation, oral and written skills • Strong project management skills • Expertise in developing detailed plans for complex projects involving challenging requirements, limited resources, and fixed deadlines • A proven track record of managing medium and large scale business critical projects, building appropriate processes and tools, and delivering results • Exposure to a wide variety of software project management methodology is preferred, especially in both waterfall and agile methods.Additional Skills (would like to have but not required) • Application development experience For quick consideration apply here Vonage The Broadband Phone Company service is redefining communications by offering consumers and small business- VolP Internet phones, an affordable alternative to traditional telephone service.
