Sr. Switch Engineer (Nortel)

Opening for a Nortel Switch Engineer in Albuquerque. This is a 4 month contract to hire position.1.Full operation and maintenance responsibilities of all the primary voice network elements within the Lucent switching environment. 2. Provide 24/7 Tier II support for assigned voice platforms including Lucent, Nortel and associated network elements (MSC, BSC, BTS) and to meet established Service Level Agreement (SLA) commitments. 3. Schedule and perform upgrades to meet or exceed established Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements. 4. Subject Matter Expert on fault management and restoral events and assist network operations team as needed to interface with the equipment vendor. 5. Assist in planning and implementation of set platform expansions and translations changes. 6. Maintain a complex network and support a network operations system infrastructure. 7. Analyze and troubleshoot network communication failures and bottlenecks. 8. Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program in alignment with 99.99% availability. 9. Proactively manage and optimize network systems and interface with vendors for support if required. 10. Assist in evaluating switching and capacity of wireless equipment. 11. Perform SW and HW upgrades and be available on-call 24x7 for system outages or scheduled maintenance. 12. Assist in vendor criteria for solution development. 13. Participate in business driven projects as a representative of network operations team and represent Network Operations needs by being the subject matter expertise and assist in planning and implementation to set project plan. 14. Member of cross-functional technical projects that require network technology as a primary component of the solution. 15. Provide timely status updates to Project manager.
