Overview:

Independently architect new and core software design; refactor existing code; support best practice initiatives; write functional and design specifications; design and implement software solutions; code review; develop unit test code; assist with deployment; 3rd-tier support; estimate project scope and cost.

Responsibilities: Develops software solutions using software development best practices and sound engineering principles. Ensures that software meets functional specifications and design requirements. Optionally assumes the lead role in architecting. Participates in developing project scope and estimates. Identifies existing and potential problems, proactively recommending solutions or alternatives as appropriate for complex software modules and systems. Participates in functional specification and design reviews to assure solutions are appropriately meeting stated goals using development best practices. Effectively communicates project status, issues and concerns in a timely manner. Proactively communicates with other departments and divisions as necessary to efficiently identify and gain insight to cooperating applications in a multi-application solution. Performs and/or leads complex testing of software code to ensure correct operation.  Develops and prepares test data, completes tests and evaluates test results.  Debugs and modifies software code to ensure that design specifications are met and resolve related problems. Occasionally travels to customer sites to assist with complex issues and debugging of installed software products.  Contacts management and staff from other divisions as required, to obtain additional information and/or assistance to resolve problems. Prepares a variety of procedurally based documentation during the software development process to include requirements, user interface scenarios, detailed layout, software architecture, etc. for management review. Provides technical guidance and assistance to less experienced departmental staff and assists in training new staff members as necessary.

Job Requirements:


Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline. At least 2 - 5 years of software development experience. At least 2 years must be with C++, C#, JAVA or ASP.NET. In-depth knowledge of Microsoft .NET technologies (ASP.NET, C#,) and SQL Databases is preferred. Strong architectural, communicative and analytical skills.
