Brief summary of duties:

The primary responsibility of the Shared Services Director is to oversee the development of the shared services department and supervise all shared services activities (centralized accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, credit & collections, payroll, benefits, general ledger, fixed assets, capital projects tracking, etc.) 

 

Areas of Responsibility:

• Establish and manage the shared services center, including the determination of proper staffing levels and the recruitment of qualified staff.

• Develop, document and implement standard processes, forms, internal controls, etc. for use across all entities.  Train staff and all users of shared services center on same.

• Manage staff in the areas of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing, Payroll, Fixed Assets, Capital Projects Tracking, and General Ledger.  Develop and implement appropriate productivity metrics to measure center performance (number of invoices processed per employee, etc.)

• Participate in monthly financial close process, including proper accounts payable, billing, and inventory receiving cutoffs, determination of needed expense accruals, journal entry preparation, etc. 

• Assist in data gathering for annual audit testing fieldwork, and quarterly and annual SEC filings

• Create additional synergies in order to streamline provision of shared services, enhance operational efficiencies and identify process improvement opportunities.

• Maintain and project a positive customer service approach in all interactions with operations, customer contact center and other internal departments.

• Establish action plans; hold staff accountable for accomplishing objectives, and motivate staff performance through effective leadership.

• Provide a clear vision to staff and other company employees of the department’s purpose and goals.

• Perform and manage special projects as required.

 

 

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in financing or accounting

• CPA or MBA a plus but not required

• Experience with Great Plains accounting software desired

• Telecommunications regulatory experience with NECA cost reporting and billing desired

• Minimum seven years work experience in Finance/Accounting in a large company environment

• 5+ years experience managing in a shared services environment

• Proven success managing staff and delegating tasks

• Superior oral and written communication skills

• Ability to work in a team environment with positive attitude

• Highly organized and detail-oriented

• Proven ability to multi-task

• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

• Ability to maintain focus in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with many daily interruptions

• Requisite level of computer skills necessary to execute the job functions effectively — MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
