Senior NOC Technician
Intrado is currently searching for a Senior NOC Technician for our Longmont office.
Responsible for providing day-to-day systems management for all customer facing production systems in a 24-hour/7-day-per-week Network Operations Center (NOC) in a accordance with departmental policies and procedures; utilize network tools for network alarm monitoring and testing ensuring immediate action when fault is detected; diagnose network failure in a timely manner ensuring resolution from beginning to end; monitor and troubleshoot complex telecommunications networks; provide assistance to assigned co-workers, providing support and answering questions as necessary, ensuring functions are efficiently performed and paperwork is processed in a quality-oriented manner; provide direction to assigned staff, assisting with initial orientation to the department and task completion, as requested; participate in the activities associated with a variety of departmental projects including preparing reports, material, documentation, and coordinating tasks; prepare and distribute a variety of reports as requested by supervisor
Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):
Network Functions - Provide day-to-day systems management (e.g., administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, correcting server and network problems, status reporting, etc.) for all customer facing production systems in a 24-hour/7-day-per-week Network Operations Center (NOC) in a accordance with departmental policies and procedures; utilize network tools for network alarm monitoring and testing ensuring immediate action when fault is detected; diagnose network failure in a timely manner ensuring resolution from beginning to end; monitor and troubleshoot complex telecommunications networks (e.g., routers, switches, softswitches, session directors, etc.) ensuring network software updates are implemented in a timely manner; migrate test applications to the production environment, as required; troubleshoot production level issues with members of the Network Operations Team and other internal teams; develop and maintain an in-depth working knowledge of all products and services; prepare and install servers and other hardware in the data center, as required; participate in data and physical integrity controls for the NOC; follow documentation for relevant data center processes ensuring 100% accuracy; effectively communicate with other team members regarding open tickets ensuring resolution; independently process escalated tickets ensuring follow-up until ticket is closed and resolved; continuously review the effectiveness of current procedures and strive to identify improvement to processes
Staff Assistance - Provide assistance to assigned co-workers, providing support and answering questions as necessary, ensuring functions are efficiently performed and paperwork is processed in a quality-oriented manner, adhering to corporate and departmental policies and procedures; provide direction to assigned staff, assisting with initial orientation to the department and task completion, as requested; as necessary, provide departmental support in problem resolution, ensuring issues are resolved in an accurate, timely, and professional manner; assist staff in striving to ensure highest level of quality, responsive service possible is provided; may be required to support supervisor in responding to inquires and conducting research and analysis
Project Assistance - Participate in the activities associated with a variety of departmental projects including preparing reports, material, documentation, and coordinating tasks; create and maintain project files that are well documented and efficiently organized, ensuring files include documentation for each phase of the project which may include project calendar and support documentation detailing project activities, results, implementation, etc.; as required, provide project lead with status reports throughout assigned projects detailing project status and timeline
Report Preparation - Prepare and distribute a variety of reports as requested by supervisor; ensure all reports are completed accurately and according to designated timelines; conduct research and compile data for report preparation resolving any discrepancies with data
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants for this job will be expected to meet the following minimum qualifications.
Education
Associate's degree in computer science or closely related field required. Equivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for educational requirements.
Experience
Three years technical support, operations center, or similar work environment required.
Technical Knowledge
Knowledge of the following is required: signaling protocols (ISDN, SS7, SIP, CAS, etc.); circuit or soft-switch administration or provisioning; TCP/IP; PC/Server and network hardware; demonstrated expertise with VI Editor; DNS Administration, SSH, NFS, and Apache
Knowledge of the following is preferred: basic understanding of CODEC technology (e.g., G711, G729, etc); Datacenter and Cisco networking; Application Service Provider (ASP)
Other
Intermediate knowledge of MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint required
