Sr. Corporate Tax Accountant
Position Summary:
The role of the Tax Accountant is to prepare, review, and file all Samsung Telecommunications of America (STA) tax reporting, including sales and use tax, state income tax, consolidated Federal tax, and property tax as a part of a consolidated member of the parent corporation. Review department financial information, statements, and reports for accuracy. Analyze financial performance against plan and coordinate with management the explanation of results and variances. Review and reconcile general ledger accounts and year-end audit work papers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned. In this position, either directly
or through others, the incumbent will:
· Prepares, reviews, and files monthly tax returns, quarterly tax estimates, year-end tax accruals, and year-end tax returns, and supports documentation for both US and Canada.
· Reconciles and reviews general ledger accounts for all departments to ensure proper application of tax related entries.
· Coordinates inter-company transaction activity and follow up on any tax related requests from parent company.
· Analyzes financial data and reports, and recommends proper accounting treatment, reserves, etc.
· Prepares and reviews year-end audit work papers, tax schedules, and year-end tax returns.
· Performs research on specific tax issues.
· Performs other accounting related tasks and projects that include reconciliations, ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and any other accounting related tasks assigned by the Senior Manager of Accounting.
Background/Experience to qualify for this position, the following minimal background and skill levels are required:
· A Bachelors Degree in Accounting (or related field) from a four-year college or university; MBA and CPA preferred.
· Have 5-8 years accounting experience with responsibility for general ledger, sales/use tax, Income/Property Tax, capital assets, and financial reporting.
· Proficient in US tax laws and experience with FAS 109
· Experience in utilizing tax research software along with using SAP R/3 software.
· Must have Microsoft Office suite of PC software application experience with advanced Excel spreadsheet preparation skills operating in an NT LAN/WAN systems environment.

· Reads, interprets, and acts appropriately with proper understanding of accounting and financial documents based on corporate legal, sales, state and Federal tax rules, and business philosophy.
· Demonstrates very high competency level in communication of accounting and financial information. Must be able to communicate in writing, through emails and reports, or orally, complex accounting and financial matters to both an accounting and non-accounting audience.
· The ability to perform tasks and work assignments based upon general policies where work results are sometimes monitored. Some analysis is required to make decisions and to determine appropriate courses of action where situations differ and require creativity to search for solutions from among learned experiences.
Physical/Mental Demands and Working Conditions: The position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:
· Work is generally performed in an office environment.
· Operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal more than 95% of work time, including prolonged periods of time.
· Requires considerable (90%+) work utilizing high visual acuity/detail, numeric/character distinction, and moderate hand/finger dexterity.
· The movement and transportation of equipment, most of the time under 25 pounds.
· Performs work under time schedules and stresses which are normally periodic or cyclical, including time sensitive job stress, fatigue, unpaid over-time, intellectual challenge, constant technical data feedback, language barriers, and project management stress.
· Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids includes PC’s, printers, copiers, faxes, and other equipment commonly associated with an office work area.
· Frequently works additional hours beyond normal schedule.
· Minimal travel to customer or STA sites of 10 percent of the time or less.
· Under limited supervision with a moderate responsibility to apply general policies and guidelines where most work is not directly verified and may involve internal losses or costs to correct. Position has access to confidential data where disclosure is detrimental to the company’s interests.
