Sales Engineer - Cox Business Orange County, CA Description:Position SummaryThe Sales Engineer accompanies Account Executives and Outside Sales Representatives on sales visits, performs site surveys, makes product recommendations, and completes technical specs. The position also assists in developing solutions as needed and works with the Order Entry Specialist to ensure orders are completed in an accurate and timely fashion. The Sales Engineer works primary with telephony and/or data services and some videoPrimary Responsibilities/Tasks Accompanies Outside Sales Representatives and Account Executives on sales visits, as needed Assists Outside Sales Representatives and Account Executives with determining customer requirements and developing proposals Conducts site surveys to determine customer requirements and network compatibility Develops and executes technical presentations to internal/external groups as needed Reviews proposals created by Outside Sales Representatives and Account Executives to provide necessary input Interfaces with customers and vendors to ensure the integrity of Cox proposals Works with the test lab to ensure the feasibility of all new/custom products and solutions Interfaces with Operations & Engineering to ensure network availability/serviceability before orders are finalized Attends data group and network meetings Understands the core network and communicates network changes to the sales team Works with product champions as active part of product rollout teams, to ensure the sales teams understanding of new products Provides feedback on products to corporate Provides input and technical specs to Order Entry Specialist in order to complete orders in a timely fashion Participates on Solution Development Teams created for large/complex customers Remains current on technical information regarding Coxs telephony, data, or video products and services through completion of required/recommended training programPerformance Measures Account Executive Feedback Timeliness of Sales Engineer response to sales orders Training Metrics - Total number of hours spent in training- % of required/recommended training/certifications completedInternal/External Relationships and AccountabilitiesINTERNAL DIRECT RELATIONSHIPS: Managers of Inside/Outside Sales and their subordinates Account Executives ACCOUNTABLE FOR: Completing training to ensure that their recommendations are current and accurate Having the ability to explain all areas of Business Services on a technical levelEXTERNAL DIRECT RELATIONSHIPS: Customers ACCOUNTABLE FOR: Completing training to ensure that their recommendations are current and accurate Having the ability to explain all areas of Business Services on a technical level Responding to inquiries in a timely fashionQualifications:Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Bachelors degree preferably with a concentration in Systems Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience Experience in the communications industry 2 years experience in telephony & data experience and or Customer Premises Equipment (CPE), including knowledge of installation and functionality Knowledge of telephony, data, and video products and services Ability to effectively communicate with Account Executives, Outside Sales Representatives, customers, and other functional groups as necessary Ability to analyze orders to determine accuracy and completeness Knowledge of Nortel hardware (DMS-500 Digital Switch) preferred Knowledge of SONET networks preferred Experience with Ethernet, Token Ring, FDDI and ATM equipment as well as DS-1 and DS-3 preferred Knowledge of Nortel transport (OC-12, OC-48, OC-3) preferred Knowledge of LAN/WAN, ATM, SNMP via UDP/IP and router technology preferred Computer skills including Windows based applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook) NT experience and/or certification preferred Cisco experience and/or certification preferred Must have a clean driving record (for systems who use corporate cars) and be able to travel to customer locations within the systemSalary/Benefits: > $50,000Job Location: Rancho Santa Margarita, CAJob Number: 7095Company URL: http://www.cox.com/CoxCareer/Company Profile:As the third largest cable provider in the nation, Cox Communications, Inc. is noted for its high-capacity, reliable broadband delivery network as well as the company's ability to provide superior customer service.
