Job Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for providing pre and post technical sales support for design and implementation of complex network solutions for medium to large Business Services accounts. Key areas of focus will include: participating in sales appointments, assisting in the preparation of Requests for Proposals (RFP), providing guidance and counsel to the customer during the sales engagement process, be an ongoing technical resource to the field sales force. This involves customer site surveys, working closely with customer and sales teams to gather customer network configuration and operation requirements, evaluating the most appropriate technical solution for customer and to provide on-going consulting support.

This position will act as Subject Matter Expert for to the field sales force and customer. Areas of expertise will include high bandwidth Internet services and high bandwidth private lines services which includes Ethernet, DS-3, OC-3, )C12, )C-48 and managed wavelengths of 1.25, 2.5 and 10 Gbps. A special emphasis will be placed on Metro Ethernet services which encompass E-Line and E-LAN services, point-to-point and multi-point configurations.

• Provides technical pre and post sales support for Metro Ethernet products. .
• Act as SME for Metro Ethernet and provide support to other regions in division as Metro E becomes available to these markets
• Analyze, develop, design and assist in sales process on all products and services. This will include designing solutions for the customer that meet business critical requirements such as protected circuit design, disaster recovery applications, appropriate bandwidth for future growth, etc.
• Will also serve as a SME for complex voice applications(VoIP), high speed data, and video products and services to meet end-user customer requirements in the business services market
• Involved with end to end process by working with engineering teams on site surveys, gathering customer network configurations and solutions requirements, recommending most appropriate solution for customer and provide ongoing technical support
• Serves as a source of market and field intelligence for sales teams, regional and divisional marketing groups to better understand competitive landscape and evolving customer requirements
• Develop and deliver high level technical presentations to both internal groups (sales, marketing, divisional leadership) and external customers
• Responds to requests for bids and proposals by providing fully documented technical solution (with diagrams) that clearly outline all technical components of solution
• Act as subject matter expert to field sales and marketing teams as well as to business services customers on an as needed basis

Required Skills:
Minimum Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in technical support in telecommunications field (Ideally with MSO, CLEC, ILEC, VAR or ISP)
• Minimum of 3+ years working directly with customers preferably with medium to large businesses
• Have lead successful technical projects through implementation
• Must have experience with the following:
o Network Design
o MAN technologies & designs including DS-x, OC-x, WDM, and Ethernet
o Internet Technologies, Functionality & Services
o Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery concepts
o Networking Protocols (with an emphasis on Layers 1,2, & 3)
o CPE (voice & data)
o Voice Network Technologies (including VoIP)
o Data Networking Technologies, Functionality & Services (LAN, MAN, WAN, VPN)
o Must have developed and/or delivered technical training programs

• Solid technical skills in the following areas: LAN, MAN and WAN technologies
• Ability to prepare complex technical proposals involving customer configurations and diagrams
• Microsoft office products and PC based network utility tools


Formal Education/Degree:
• BS degree in technical related field such as computer science or engineering preferred

Certificates/Licenses:
o CCDA/CCNA is preferred
