Now, let’s talk about you. Are you proficient in Windows-based applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc? Do you have top-notch verbal and written communication and customer service skills? Can you travel and work a flexible schedule when needed?  If so, you owe it to yourself to explore this exciting opportunity to join Switch and Data. If you are our successful candidate, you will assume responsibility for:

• Creating purchase orders, coordinating and expediting the flow of material, capital equipment and services.
• Monitoring and reporting potential jeopardy due dates on all purchase orders to supervisor.
• Communicating with sites in response to purchasing and procurement issues and with vendors regarding goods and services.
• Managing, organizing, and updating relevant data using database applications in PNET Catalog.
• Coordinating new vendor process with A/P.
• Tracking vendor shipments via telephone and electronic communications and researching shipment status via the web.
• Preparing and submitting relevant administrative functions in a timely and accurate manner, e.g., shipping schedules, letters of credit, documents, declarations, packing, routing, and transportation of all shipments.

Sound good so far? Great. Here are some other specific duties the Purchasing Specialist will perform:

• Researching and resolving purchase order and invoice discrepancies.
• Creating financial and statistical tools and reports using spreadsheets as needed.

One more thing: If you have knowledge of the Purchasing Net system, you’ve already got one foot in the door! 1+ years Purchasing experience is a plus, but is not required.
