Principle Software Engineer

The Lowell, Massachusetts team will be working on next generation solutions that will make a significant impact within the market.This is a senior level role focused in developing our next generation platform focused at the Metro Ethernet market. As a Sr. Software Engineer on the team you will have a wide scope, and depth, of responsibilities. Focus areas will be full life-cycle development of: drivers, infrastructure, and embedded systems development. This role has high impact and high visibility within the team. We are looking for someone that has experience building carrier class networking product with a passion for solving complex problems with a solid work ethic and team player attitude.  RESPONSIBILITIES: There is an immediate need for an engineer to own responsibility for, while working as part of a larger team, building a reference design from existing infrastructure components as well as 3rd party systems. This near term initial position will lead towards other more advanced and involved roles in the overall project. Create implementation specifications and test plans. Perform code reviews Work closely with SQA Work closely with HW development team Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Pro-active communication inside product team. Communicate effectively Provides technical leadership on small projects. Generate and participate in the development of schedules QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will be self motivated and self directed, and have the qualifications with: Linux kernel development LKM driver development C/C++ Linux or BSD IP stack experience PPC assembler experience would be helpful We prefer the follow general qualifications: BS/MS degree in CS or related discipline with 10+ years of relevant experience Hands on knowledge and experience in the design, development and debugging of embedded telecommunication systems equipment Experience with traffic generation test equipment (Agilent, Ixia, Smartbits, Adtech) Additional experience and/or exposure to any of the following while not immediately required will demonstrate additional value throughout the project: Working knowledge of L2/L3 networking protocols or Metro Ethernet Forum standards VXWorks, Linux RTOS Network processor development Embedded network management Inter-process communication For consideration, qualified candidates should apply for this position by visiting www.ericssonusjobs.com and reference Requisition Number SB12629.
