Principal Ntwrk Engineer, Content Delivery Prod. Eng. - Philadelphia, PA

Provide the architecture, design, development, and validation of system level features for Comcast's switched digital video over cable solution.
?Provide technical support to the field and field support staff on switched digital products.
?Assist internal and 3rd party vendors in the interpretation of designs to enable the development of Software and Hardware solutions.
?Assist in vendor selection process by developing RFP/RFI technical specifications, and evaluating vendors' technical solutions, and architectures ensuring switched designs can integrate with current and next generation video on demand solutions.

Required Skills:
10 or more years in design and development of software and hardware solutions including knowledge of all entire development lifecycle from design, to implementation to validation and support.

- Bachelors degree in engineering. Masters degree in engineering desired. Relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of educational experience.

- Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

- Familiar with industry standard practices, interfaces, Operating Systems, and protocols such as: DSM-CC, ISA, RTSP, SQL, HTTP, XML, Java, TCP/IP, Network attached Storage, CDN, SOAP, Solaris, Linux, Windows 2k3, Python, MPEG 2 and 4, windows media streaming, real streaming, flash, IGMP, RTP, SNMP
? Strong networking skills. Understanding of layer 3 routing, DNS, DHCP, Ethernet.
? Disciplined software engineering experience desired, including: Structured Analysis, Structured Design, OOA/OOD, UML, design artifact construction, test plan design, test case design.
? Project Management skills a plus.
