Perform installs, reconnects, disconnects, adds and/or troubleshoots service for video, internet, and the Comcast voice services, CDP or Comcast Digital Voice, through either switched circuit, VoIP, or digital voice technology in compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC). [This will apply when the training and the products are available in our areas for digital voice.]

Pre-wire single unit dwellings in order to provide ready hook-up capabilities.

Troubleshoot the drop from the tap to the customer's equipment.

Perform CLI ride-outs.

Install and remove converters in order to provide customer with upgrades or downgrades in service.

Clean, maintain and stock vehicle and equipment in order to be prepared to perform required duties.

Review all requested services with the customer in order to ensure understanding and agreement.

Inspect existing ground or make new ground according to the National Electrical Code (NEC) in order to protect employees, customers, and equipment from electrical shock or damage.

Complete associated paperwork with each work order in a timely manner in order to ensure all details of the work are recorded for entry in the customer's account once the work is checked in.

Determine acceptability of service by reviewing picture quality following installation of cable service in order to provide the best possible service for the customer.

Provide the customer with materials regarding channel line ups, use of converter and company policies as they relate to the customer as well as demonstrate these skills in order to educate the customer on the use of the equipment and company guidelines.

Properly operate and maintain installation/service tools and equipment.

Report need for vehicle repair or service when required and/or prescribed.

Report any accidents, losses, injuries or property damage to supervisor and customer when appropriate.

Apply knowledge and skills of training on the job in order to prepare for transition to CommTech 3.

Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance required.

Perform other duties as requested by supervisor in order to achieve departmental goals and objectives.


Minimum Requirements Operational Competencies:

Must be able to utilize tools and equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and/or those identified by Comcast.

Ability to use basic cable installation tools and hand tools.

Ability to perform job from high places (on ladders, poles and roofs).

Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), various state and local codes including G.O. 95 and G.O. 128, (when applicable), and the policies and procedures for CATV installation activities.

Ability to read general system layouts from blueprints.

Knowledge of cable television products and services.

Knowledge of basic mathematics.

Ability to communicate with customers in a clear and straight forward manner.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to prioritize and organize effectively.

Ability to climb poles and ladders.

Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs.

Ability to work overtime as needed.

Training/Licenses/Certifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license in good standing.
