PBX Network Engineer
MidAtlantic Broadband – Telecom, a National telecommunications company is looking for a PBX Network Engineer for our internal and external customers in our Chantilly, VA Operations and Engineering center.
Overview:
Person in charge of engineering and tier 3 operational support at our Network Operations Center in Chantilly, VA. Responsible for Hospitality PBX communication systems and network throughout selected regions of the United States at military installations and in commercial environments.
Responsibilities:
Manage, maintain and engineer multiple Nortel and Mitel PBX systems and associated peripheral equipment in an operations/engineering environment. Provide technical support and perform remote diagnostics. Maintain and update telephony network documentation. Coordinate escalated repair and installation activities with the NOC. Support new PBX and VOIP installation projects. Travel 10% to remote PBX site locations periodically to support and maintain VOIP and PBX operations and engineering.

This position will be responsible for developing, implementing, improving, maintaining, and monitoring all Voice and Data systems as they relate to TDM Telecommunications. This position should be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the Telecommunications field. Also responsible for fielding escalated issues and escalating issues to vendors as necessary.
Requirements:
Must have 5 years of technically related experience in maintaining and engineering PBX solutions with an emphasis on Nortel equipment.
5+ years wiring and PBX support
Must have strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem solving ability
10% travel required
Willing to be on-call for tier 3 technical support
Preferred working knowledge and/or certifications on one or more of the following products: Nortel Option 61, Mitel 200 and Mitel 2000 and VOIP services.
Excellent communication skills
Strong customer service skills
Self-motivated and can-do attitude
Willingness to stay current of relevant technology
Local candidates preferred, relocation is not offered
