NOC Tech Engineer

Apex Systems is searching for a NOC Tech Engineer to work in Austin, Texas!  Long-term Contract (2+ years). Candidates must be completely flexible on a 24x7 shift schedule!  Shift hours will rotate on a quarterly basis.  Complete flexibility needed (40-48 hrs/week)! Candidates must have a minimum 2 years experience working in a NOC environment!
Job Description: 1. Responding to Transport network alarms in a timely, decisive manner. 2. Understand alarm severity and priority accordingly. 3. Open tickets to start repair of network equip/facilities with LEC’s, IXC’s, Outside Fiber Providers, vendors, and field ops. 4. Work with Tier III support to ensure completion. 5. Follow MOP’s, anticipate problems, and take corrective action.


Required Skills:1. Working Knowledge of intermediate provisioning of eligible to OC192 circuit testing2. SONET and SDH maintenance3. DWDM maintenance4. Fiber optics and switching schemes5. NIU, CSU/DSU, PBX, Extended demarks, muxes, and routers
