Mgr-Operations Switch
p { font-size: 11px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 12px; } Responsibilities This position is responsible for managing the operation and maintenance of the Mobile Telephone Switching Office (MTSO) and all peripheral associated equipment. Other responsibilities include: directing and supervising the Associate Technician - Switch, Technician - Switch, and Senior Technician - Switch to ensure proper maintenance and operations of the MTSO equipment and organizing and planning the timely installation of MTSO hardware, facilities, translations, and switch software upgrades in the designated MTSO location. MTSO software upgrades in the peripheral equipment that this position is responsible for includes, but is not limited to: routers, ATM switches, voice mail systems, EHLR, VAD, PBX, CDPD, DACS, and power equipment. Other responsibilities include: interfacing and providing support to all other departments in the organization, such as: Cells, Construction, RF, System Performance, and Facilities on a daily basis to ensure growth schedules are being met; ensuring the security, safety, and environmental compliance of systems and facilities in accordance with corporate guidelines; leading, motivating, and coaching a diverse team toward common goals and objectives; and developing employees for future positions in accordance with their personal development plan. Masters preferred. 6+ years of work experience required. Experience in more than one of the following fields: telecommunications, two-way radio, paging, or microwave radio is preferred. In-depth knowledge in one of the following technologies and/or platforms: voice switch infrastructure experience including Lucent 5E and ECP, Motorola MGX, and Nortel MTX; digital communications including: DS1, DS3, Fiber, ISDN; operating systems and applications including: UNIX, Windows, MS Office; computer support experience including: PC hardware and configurations, troubleshooting; power experience including: Galaxy, Lorain, DC distribution systems, troubleshooting; and telecom experience including: T1, DACS, OMP.In-depth knowledge in at least 5 of the following areas: wireless/data service, data communications, digital communications, operational systems and applications, voice switch, voice cells, telecommunications, computer support, project management, microwave, and/or power.Advanced training in at least 5 of the following areas: data communications, digital communications, operating systems and applications, telecommunications, computer support, project management, and/or power.Previous experience as a Technician - Switch and/or Sr. Technician Switch preferred. Experience and knowledge of LAN/WAN protocols is required.Experience and knowledge of transmission facilities (OC48, T3, T1, and DSO) is required.Strong computer skills with emphasis on applications is required.
