As a key business partner, provide Human Resources support and consultation to multiple client groups in the Metro Boston Region. Diagnose Human Resource needs; design and implement HR strategies and plans that meet business priorities; and deliver high quality programs that result in improved performance and retention. Provide support and consultation in the following HR disciplines: compensation, benefits, learning and development, employee relations, labor relations, performance management, and policy administration. Functions as the regional point of contact for all labor relations issues and partners with Division Labor team to support Divisional and Regional labor goals. This is an individual contributor position that reports to the Vice President of Human Resources.
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Builds, develops and sustains strong working relationships with key stakeholders throughout the organization. Serve as a strategic business partner to assist the organization in delivering strong business results and sustained growth.
- Supports organizational change by seeking and developing ways for the organization to be more effective. Helps to build organizational capacity for change.
- Acts as the key regional point of contact in the coordination of organizing activity and campaigns. Recognizes potential labor relations issues and trends and takes or recommends necessary action.
- Partners with local management to develop bench strength through effective succession planning and career development programs.
- Partners with line leaders and regional staffing group to coordinate and address short and long term staffing needs. Proactively sources for high quality and diverse candidates. Participates in local recruiting events. Focuses on reducing turnover by identifying appropriate retention solutions.
- Oversees the performance management process and systems to ensure consistency and fairness in its operations. Provide quality advice to managers and employees, to ensure that rewards are appropriate and consistent within departments. Analyzes organizational capability, create and implement new ways to develop the business through improved management of people and processes.
- Consults with employees and managers on employee relations issues and problems (e.g. discipline, re-organization, consultation, employment terms and conditions and policies and procedures, etc.) to ensure that all are aware of the importance of acting within both company procedures and the law; and that all employees are treated in a fair and consistent manner.
- Ensures the effective management of benefit and salary administration in a timely manner and in accordance with company procedures.
- Identifies critical training needs and partners with Comcast University to deliver training programs that help to impact positive business results.
- Analyzes data (i.e. exit interviews, ESS results, etc) to identify trends and recommend solutions to improve employee satisfaction, performance and retention.
- Partners with local management to create an inclusive culture; an environment that employees feel valued, respected and empowered to perform at their best.
- Demonstrates strong project management skills in order to participate and/or lead key initiatives.
- Implements HR's tactical business plans and processes to support the achievement of line business objectives.
- Builds and maintain relationships within the community and industry organizations to bring best practices and competitive analysis to the Region. Participates in local events that help to support the Comcast brand.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance required.
Required Skills:
Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent work experience.
- 8-10+ years experience in progressively responsible HR roles; 3+ years of HR Management experience required.
- Advanced knowledge and experience working in a union environment and/or in organizing campaigns.
- Prior experience negotiating a labor contract a must.
- Strong working knowledge of general Human Resources policies, programs, methods, practices and procedures related to Employee Relations, Staffing, Compensation, Benefits, Performance Management, Workers Compensation, and EEO/AAP Administration.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and Local laws and regulations related to the Human Resources function (FLSA, ADA, Civil Rights Act of 1964, and FMLA)
- Highly developed consultative, influencing and negotiation skills
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills
- Successful track record of hiring, motivating and developing people.
- Proven experience working proactively and independently with minimal direction
- Must have high integrity, ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive information in a professional manner
- Must be able to interact effectively with employees and all levels of management
- Ability to work well in a fast paced environment and work well under pressure
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and manage several projects simultaneously
- Strong MS office suite experience as well as proficiency in HR database systems
- Must be professional, established team player with a collaborative approach, a high achiever and self-starter
- Ability to travel to Metro Boston facility sites
