Legal Secretary & Regulatory Assistant

Legal Secretary & Regulatory Assistant Performs legal secretary and regulatory assistant duties in support of the Law and Policy Department, including basic drafting and editing and revision of litigation and regulatory documents and timely filing with state and federal agencies. Communicates with regulators, gathers records, and prepares answers to queries from law enforcement agencies and regulators.  Handles regulatory filings with commissions and other regulators, in compliance with applicable procedures.  Creates and maintains docket files, prepares and formats written materials, provides accurate record keeping, files, and copies.  Serves as backup for office Receptionist as needed. Requires associate’s degree in Business and/or certification as legal secretary or legal assistant, or the equivalent in training and experience. Demonstrated (4-5+ years) legal secretarial experience in legal/regulatory environment, indicating knowledge of legal/regulatory court and state agency docket management procedures (including for electronic filing). Effective verbal and written communication skills and excellent organizational skills. Must have experience with legal document drafting and preparation, filing and scheduling, and discovery. Must have a professional demeanor. Demonstrated ability to multi-task, respond to conflicting tasks, meet inflexible deadlines, and make sound independent decisions. Demonstrated understanding of personal computers, including word processing, calendars, Power Point presentations, spreadsheets, intranet, scanning, and database. Experience answering a multi-line telephone system. Able to work extended hours depending on workload and expectations from management.  Experience working in the telecommunications or other regulated utilities industry preferred.
