General Accounting Manager
The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks a General Accounting Manager for our Region Office Accounting Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.
Essential Job Functions:
• Manages, develops, trains, motivates, and evaluates staff.
• Ensures complete and accurate recording of all revenue, cash, accounts receivable and bad debt allowance to the general ledger.
• Reviews accuracy and ensures timeliness of programming and franchise fee payments. Monitors compliance with franchise agreements and accurate billing system set-ups.
• Reviews and provides filing information for copyright.
• Ensures compliance with various accounting controls by reviewing bank account reconciliations, accounts receivable reconciliations, and other account reconciliations.
• Performs analysis on account month-to-month variances, ending balances, comparisons to budget and outlook.
• Ensures tax compliance with regulatory requirements and tax data for corporate filings.
• Monitors internal control and compliance procedures, internal and outside regulatory agency audits, Sarbanes-Oxley testing, documentation, and compliance.
Job Requirements:
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
• Strong spreadsheet skills, especially Excel and Access.
• Knowledge of accounting principles, internal control standards, and Sarbanes-Oxley regulation; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; working knowledge of personal computers, data retrieval, and input from various billing systems; advanced spreadsheet skills.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to write effective synopsis of franchise agreement information, audit responses, management reports on related issues that conform to prescribed style and format.
• Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
• Ability to direct staff accountants and accounting administrators in month end close and account reconciliation activities.
• Fax, telephone, copier, computer, mouse and ten key calculator.
• PeopleSoft accounting system.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Five to seven years related experience and/or training in an automated accounting department required.
• Prior supervisory/management experience required.
•MBA degree preferred, but not required.
•Travel 20%
• Ability to handle various tasks simultaneously, organize, prioritize, make decisions and work efficiently and effectively under deadlines.
• Ability to express oneself in a clear, concise and organized manner both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to think through a problem, analyze and break it down into parts to resolve or come up with a logical solution.
• Must be able to function under considerable levels of stress.
• Ability to exercise good judgment, keeping in mind company policies and procedures as guidelines.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.
