Comcast Cable Eastern Division

* Through hands-on physical inspection and various software UI's creates Headend system documentation in Microsoft Visio and Excel.
* Creates Rack elevation designs for all Headend and OTN facilities
* Ensures design specifications to meet the Comcast standards throughout the Northern NJ region.
* Facilitates the communication with the corporate engineering functions relative to standardizing and developing of new program choices for system design and viewing by researching and testing programs and by attending computer classes and meetings.
* Facilitates the storage and safety of computer data implementing and coordinating effective backup procedures.
* Assists in the on-going distribution of design maps to network operations, network implementation, and others.
* Manages the mapping and data files for the fiber optic inside cable plant and optical electronics; inclusive of routes and distances; network layouts; head-end connections; carried services per fiber, per wavelength and manufacture information by digitizing graphic and text data.
* Must have the ability to interpret and document inside plant records from basic floorplans.
* Must work with other departments as necessary to maintain an in-depth, technical knowledge base of new technologies being deployed.
* Develop a change management program to coordinate maintenance activities, projects and programs into existing system documentations.
* Ensures that change management standards are followed for the Northern NJ region.
* Ensures that all documentation remains accurate and is available to all engineering disciplines 24x7x365.
* Uses documentation to expedite system restoration when outages occur.
* Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.

Required Skills:
* High School Diploma required or GED.
* A degree in computer aided drafting and design or related coursework.
* Five years of CAD, drafting or Visio training and/or experience.
* Five years of CATV design experience.
* Strong planning and organizational skills.
* Familiarity with CATV blueprints and construction designs.
* A strong understanding of CATV design theory and technical requirements.
* Familiarity with Comcast fiber optic documentation standards a plus.
* Strong computer skills, including the ability to work with customized programs a plus.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, Excel, Visio 2002-2003, and AutoCAD design software required.
* Must be available to work in the maintenance window to document live systems with zero customer impact
* Work experience in the design of production networks a must.
* Basic understanding of IP concepts and signal flow analysis
* Punctual, regular, consistent attendance required.
* Strong interpersonal, relationship building, and project management skills are desired.
* Ability to work overtime, as needed.
