Engineer ll - Field Design and Support - Mt. Laurel, NJ

This position is responsible for providing engineering expertise as it relates to the development, testing and production / field deployment of Video, VoD (Video on Demand), CDN (Content Distribution Network) and related technologies. This person will be responsible for contributing to and leading engineering projects and tasks required to meet the deliverables of Marketing & Product Development, Product Engineering and other Comcast organizations in support of defined business objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Contributes to the design, development, testing and deployment of solutions that leverage the Video, VoD (Video on Demand) and CDN (Content Distribution Network) infrastructures to deliver products and services that Comcast's subscribers find value in and help distinguish Comcast from its competition.
Works with the Divisions, Regions, Markets and Head End personnel to architect custom fit solutions related to the Video, VoD and CDN infrastructures.
When assigned, this person will be required to take the role of Lead Engineer and develop end-to-end architectures and designs, gathering input from other engineering teams when needed, demonstrating the required organizational skills to meet project objectives within defined timelines.
Creates and maintains detailed design documents (DDD), technical requirements documents (TRD) and architectural / field design documents, including install guides, runbooks, methods & procedures guides and training materials.
Functions as a liaison between the business and the solution providers / vendors to ensure that product development roadmaps account for features and functionality needed to achieve stated business objectives.
Provides sustained engineering solutions to the Divisions, Regions, Markets and Head Ends to ensure that existing Video, VoD and CDN infrastructures are designed and scaled in accordance with stated business initiatives to improve performance, offer new features and functions, increase capacity, etc.
Assists with the configuration and maintenance of the Development Lab environment in support of testing product improvements, configuration changes targeted for production, software product upgrades, bug fixes, performance testing, etc.
Conducts test planning and execution, including the creation of test cases, test scripts and lab / test environment documentation.
Provides escalated operations support for the production Video, VoD and CDN platforms. Coordinates troubleshooting and defect resolution, working with vendors and internal resources to deliver timely solutions.
Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance is required.
Some travel may be required.

Required Skills:
Education B.S. in Computer Science / Information Systems or equivalent work experience.
Experience Five or more years of demonstrated experience in an engineering or operations role associated with Video, VoD or CDN infrastructures. Ideal candidate will have cable plant experience and be familiar with cable infrastructure such as QAMs, DACs, ARPDs, OMs, DNCS, etc. Ideal candidate will have worked one or more years in a triple-play (voice/video/data) environment.
Knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, such as IP, TCP, UDP, ICMP, Multicasting, Content Distribution, Multimedia, RTP) Experience with various networking equipment (CISCO routers, switches, load balancers, SANs, etc.) is a plus.
Excellent analytical ability and communication skills (verbal and written).
Personal initiative and interpersonal skills to provide the required support and technical assistance to persons of varying technical background and knowledge
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
Creative, self-motivated team player willing to take ownership and responsibilities as required.
