Position SummaryResponsible for design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems for enterprise data storage and protection. Performs engineering design evaluations. May develop a range of products. Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Requires a bachelor's degree or 4-6 years of related experience. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. Provides technical mentoring of lower level engineers and administrators. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Storage Engineering: Provide advanced architecture design and engineering for enterprise storage solutions and servicesProvide advanced consultation in the design, development and implementation of data storage technical products and systemsEngineer requirements definition, architecture development, design and integration for data storage, data retention and recovery needs of business critical applications and functions.Provide advanced technical leadership and resources for enterprise storage services and systemsProvide advanced support for enterprise services and systems

Project Planning and Implementation: Provide advanced leadership for and participates in complex long-term project work, including functional subsystem upgrades for mission-critical services as well as strategic upgrades to the enterprise storage solutionsProvide advanced technical direction and leadership to the lower level SAN administrators/engineers through the planning and implementation processes.Lead requirements derivation and analysis, system specification, storage design, functional partitioning, and storage architecture definition.Provide advanced expertise in the development of system test, validation, and integration plans on projects, and ensure maintenance of system integrity throughout project development

Storage Services Operations: Day-to-day operational responsibility for Crickets’ enterprise storage solutions. Manages enterprise storage and services to an overall uptime percentage of 99.9999%. Responsible for design and implementation of data storage solutions and monitors and tunes storage performance on a regular basis. Monitors accessibility and performance of storage services, and establishes escalation and resolution policies and procedures to reduce the MTTR (Mean Time to Repair) of business critical applications. Conducts advanced enterprise-level performance tuning, resource planning, and ensures availability of mission-critical services. Ensures availability of 24x7 on-call support for emergencies

Storage Administration: Direct and perform routine and non-routine tasks for daily operations of enterprise storage solutions and servicesDirect and perform collection analysis and reporting of operational data for use in maintenance, performance tuning and capacity planning for future enhancements/upgradesServe as an escalation point for advanced support of enterprise storage solutions and servicesEnsures ability of 24x7 on-call support for emergencies.

Required QualificationsBachelors’ degree in Computer Science, technical discipline, or equivalent experience. Systems engineering in a large 24x7 operations corporate environment4-6 years experience in a high-performance datacenter with direct support and systems engineering responsibilities. 24x7 operations experience required. Advanced knowledge and experience working with high transaction, resource intensive OLTP and batch process databases to include storage subsystems performance monitoring and tuning for optimal performance.Advanced knowledge of high-availability technologies.Advanced and proven experience achieving and maintaining 99.995% availability of systems and system services.Advanced knowledge in the architecture and design of enterprise storage solutionsAdvanced knowledge of the following: SAN and fiber channeliSCSINASSolaris, Linux and/or Windows Server 2000(3)Advanced Scripting with perl, php, shell or WSHHORCM scriptingVeritas NetbackupVeritas Volume ManagerVeritas Clustering Hitachi storage subsystems, storage technologies and softwareCisco MDS technology4-6 years systems/storage engineering experience. 4+ years with HDS enterprise storage solutions4+ years in architecture and design of high performance, storage solutions to meet business needs and growth4+ years experience working with SAN and related hardware.4+ years Veritas Foundation Suite4+ years Veritas Data Center2+ years SFORAC or RACAdvanced knowledge of backup, restore and disaster recovery planning and deployment. Ability to work on-call hours to respond quickly to issues and outages providing advanced expertise to ensure the quickest MTTR possible.
