 Position Description:

 

·  Responsible for leading a team of pre-sales systems engineers in support of Sales’ achievement of aggressive bookings/revenue targets within assigned territory or account(s); with focus on the products and technologies utilized, or prospectively utilized, by the customer.

·  Acts as a liaison between the field Sales team and the Product (BU) teams and is the central clearinghouse for all technical issues that the account team needs assistance with to close new business.

·  Works closely with direct manager in the establishment and achievement of departmental operational plans and objectives in support of Openwave’s overall corporate strategy. 

·  Responsible for executing the human factors of management including hiring, performance evaluations, employee relations and organizational development.

·  Builds and manages the technical relationship with customer's technical personnel at peer levels.

·  Serves as an Openwave product/services expert within region/territory/account(s).

·  Takes accountability for, and leads the creation of, technical sections of customer proposals.

·  Drives, owns, and gives technical presentations and product demonstrations on all aspects of Openwave products.

·  Works closely with direct manager to provide input into department budgeting process; e.g. hardware, software, staffing, etc.

·  Achieves Sales bookings/revenue targets for the department/region and/or account(s) as established by management team.

·  Establishes operational objectives and work plans and delegates assignments to subordinates.

·  Leads and directs the work of others; hires and develops staff and manages performance and conduct; holds staff accountable for results.

·  Participates in departmental team meetings and one-on-one meetings with direct manager.

 

·  Job Requirements:

·  Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills.  Sensitive to the business’ financial performance.

 

Education and/or Experience:

·  Bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, engineering, computer science or related field required. MBA or Masters Degree a plus.

·  Minimum eight (8) years of experience in field sales with recent experience in a management sales role required.

·  Minimum of three (3) years experience in developing, managing and motivating a pre-sales technical team.

·  A keen understanding of the telecommunications industry; challenges faced by operators and associated opportunities to provide solutions.
