General Scope of Work:
-Responsible for the management and planning related to infrastructure and routing design, network planning and strategy, performance engineering and optimization of the Converged Regional Area Network (CRAN) and other transport networks (SONET, DWDM, etc..) in the Atlanta Region.
-Operational support which includes hardware and software changes, data collection for troubleshooting and root-cause analysis, performing complex network level fault isolation, HFC/DOCSIS network design, IP routing architecture design, traffic analysis and future network enhancement planning and design.
-Lead major network design efforts from concept to deployment in the areas of Comcast Digital Voice (CDV) and Commercial services.
-Lead investigation into various design solutions to expand upon the converged network architecture to add reliability, reduce costs, improve customer service and add advanced services.
-Preparation and tracking of Network Engineering capital and expense budgets.
-Maintains employee schedules and generates reports as necessary to demonstrate compliance with department objectives associated with assigned work group.
-Generates and administers employee performance reviews.
-Develops and implements employee training and development as required to meet department objectives.
-Create and monitor procedures in accordance with established policies to assure adherence as well as compliance for all maintenance activities.
-Initiates escalation process as required when failures occur.
-As part of a service oriented organization, perform any and all other duties as assigned.


Required Skills:
Minimum Requirements:
-Experience with network router and CMTS configuration and management
-Extensive knowledge of UNIX (Solaris/LINUX) and/or NT systems administration and TCP/IP communications as it relates to implementing and troubleshooting networking environments
-Experience with layer 3 IP routing technologies including RIPv2, OSPF and BGP
-Experience with commonly used layer 2 technologies (e.g. Gigabit Ethernet, ATM, SONET, PPP/SONET)
-In-depth knowledge of common Internet applications/services, including DNS, Email, Web/HTTP, and NNTP
-Proven supervisory and leadership and project management skills.
-Ability to motivate employees.
-Excellent organizational and verbal and written communications skills.
-Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
-Basic networking skills and understanding of network structure, design and troubleshooting.
-Ability to interpret and analyze error reports and other data.

Education and Qualifications:
-Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or recognized equivalent in work experience and self-study.
-5 years experience in high speed data engineering and operations
-Preferably Cisco Certified Network Associate and/or Cisco Certified Network Planner
-5 years experience in HFC engineering and operations
