Dir-Business Development

Provides strategic and tactical leadership in the positioning of divisional products/services in the marketplace. Creates business relationships. Establishes, recommends and implements business/product plans leading to a business case. Leads the business case preparation, and advises management of key criteria and risks. As required, recommends investment and market strategies and when necessary introduces joint marketing, partnership and OEM arrangements. Creates and evaluates business cases in support of the Business Development activity.  Supports divisional sales management/staff ensuring alignment with departmental objectives and strategies. As required, participates in special studies, workshops, pricing/contract negotiations, etc., to ensure the business opportunity.  Purpose of job is to investigate the carrier market, analyze, create, substantiate and promote new business opportunities for NEC Corporation of America in the Optical and broadband solutions area in

North America. Works under general direction. Creates business relationships and generates business cases with contacts often through face-to-face meetings with customers, clients and industry. Establishes, recommends and directs targeted new business activities and the expansion of existing accounts. Participates in customer meetings to discuss, understand their requirements in order to develop business cases and propose solutions. Creates the compilation of information regarding market and customer requirements for divisional products. Establishes, recommends and implements business/product plans to obtain new business and product offerings, expand existing customer base. Develops product launch strategy and plans. Evaluates customer requirements and proposes product solutions. Recommends investment and market strategies and when necessary introduces joint marketing, partnership and OEM, and channel arrangements. Interfaces with divisional management/staff to review and execute appropriate business development activities. Performs other Business related tasks, creates special reports, etc as required by the management.

 

Job Requirements:


Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, and or relevant Business Degree with substantiated experience in the technical environment. A minimum eight (8) years of product marketing and/or business development experience in the telecommunication industry. Must have a broad knowledge of carrier network requirements, applications and solutions, access and transport equipment, wavelength digital multiplexing WDM technology and applications, network features/configurations, and broadband access technologies and applications. Familiarity with network management systems is desired. A strong understanding of customer's service creation drivers and requirements is beneficial.
